How to Become an Official

Thinking about becoming a sports official in football or basketball, or know of someone who might be interested, but not exactly sure about the best way of getting started?

The SOA can help!

Once you have filled out an application, you will be notified of the various training clinics which will teach you the rules, mechanics and philosophy of the game. These educational sessions are a great foundation to get started in the sport you would like to officiate, and are required by the Association.

Feel free to check on the game fee associated with each sport by clicking on the “Game Fee” tab, or if you are interested in officials equipment or apparel, click on the "Uniforms" tab, and/or “Links” tab to check out the various suppliers.

So let's get started!!!

Just fill out the online application below and someone will contact you with more information!
